FAQ’S AND HINTS AND TIPS

1 - I DON’T HAVE ANY SAILING EXPERIENCE, IS IT A SUITABLE HOLIDAY FOR ME?

Fixtures and fittings in sailing yacht all have names that initially may seem strange. Each yacht, depending on the size, is equipped with a common area called a dinette (sofa with table) to eat and relax, a galley kitchen equipped with oven and refrigerator and comfortable cabins or rooms with one or more beds (double or bunk) and one or more bathrooms with a toilet, sink and shower.

At the stern of the yacht (outside at the back) you will find the cockpit, the area where you steer and sail the yacht from. Here there is comfortable seating with cushions and a folding table where you can also eat, relax and sunbathe. On the deckhouse, the raised part in the middle of the yacht, you will also find comfortable cushion for sunbathing.

You do not need any nautical experience to climb aboard with us! Our crew will take care of the sailing of the yacht, but if you want to assist with the manoeuvres or learn more about sailing, we will be happy to explain anything you want to know. The crew will always advise and help make you feel right at home.

2 - TYPICAL DAY

The day starts after breakfast, sailing and stopping in one or more bays between berths and making small excursions to the beach.
In the afternoon we set sail for the evening destination and once anchored, we relax in good company and start the aperitifs!
Some days we stay in the same cove and spend the night. Every day the yacht gives us new landscapes and emotions.

3 - IF THERE'S BAD WEATHER

Of course the weather is variable but there is nothing you need to worry about, the sea and the yacht offer a thousand possibilities.
In case of bad weather we always have one or more
alternatives ready to go, from changing the itinerary
to organising shore excursions. Your vacation time is
precious and we will make sure not a minute is wasted!

4 - SEASICKNESS

The navigation of all our vacations takes place mainly in protected waters near the coast, the
yacht roll is therefore reduced and the risk and
inconvenience of seasickness is minimised.
In case you do suffer, do not worry, there are bracelets and patches to buy at the pharmacy that help prevent the disorder even for the most sensitive people. There are also many natural remedies such as
infusions based on ginger (ginger root) that when
accompanied by a balanced diet help to prevent
seasickness.

5 - EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE YACHT

Unless it is explicitly requested by guests, it is not necessary to book the whole yacht.
You can sail with us by sharing the cabin or by booking one or more for exclusive use.

6 - CAN I TAKE CHILDREN?

The young are always welcome on board and are normally the most enthusiastic future sailors. Contact us by email with any specific requests such as a family cruise or an adults only trip. The more information we have the better. It helps us to meet your needs by organizing the most suitable group.

7 - WIFI, ELECTRICITY AND MUSIC ON BOARD

You will be able to recharge your mobile phone and your electronic devices with the normal home charger but bring with you a cigarette lighter adapter or a USB cable. Sailing often takes place near the coast where you can easily connect to the active network on your smartphone. It is possible to send and receive emails without a network
connection, however, 'download and upload’ with the wifi network is mainly used for the yacht’s navigation equipment. When sailing offshore the 3G network is not always available; this is a good opportunity to fully enjoy the experience of sailing and contact with nature, one of the main aims of the holiday. On board you will also find a stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity to listen to music from your device (smartphone or tablet).

8 - RECOMMENDED CLOTHING.

Prepare your luggage and feel like you’re on vacation already! Here's how to organise the perfect sailing clothing. First, choose a soft bag that once emptied can be folded and easily stowed (trolleys and rigid suitcases are prohibited). Take only what you need: a number of swimsuits, t-shirts and shorts, underwear, long trousers and a sweatshirt or light jacket for the evening.
Once you have chosen what to wear remove a third and put it in the bag!
Do not forget beach or rock shoes for walks on the shore and a pair of shoes with white rubber soles to move about safely on board.
Take a towel for the shower and one for the beach made from micro fibre if possible, they dry a lot
quicker and do not take the sand away from our precious beaches, they are also light and do not take up much space.
A hat, sunglasses and adequate sunscreen protection are essential; the yacht and the glare of the water can give a very intense tan.

9 - THINGS YOU DON’T HAVE TO BRING

You will find bedlinen such as sheets, pillowcases and blankets on board. As for a hair dryer: the sun and the wind will take care of drying your hair!
Heels and shoes with hard and dark soles are not suitable and are strictly forbidden on board as well as trolley and rigid suitcases.

10 - COURTESY, HOSPITALITY AND PRIVACY

The yacht will be your home for the whole period of the holiday and you will spend your time in the company of people you know or new friends you will meet on board. All guests contribute to maintaining the common spaces and take part in the fun moments in which the crew work together: from the choice of the bay for a dive, to preparing meals and snacks for everyone. The cabins are considered a private zone therefore every guest will be responsible for keeping their cabin clean during the cruise.

11 - THE GALLEY AND EXTRA EXPENSES

The galley is used for the supply of food and drinks that are consumed on board. Preparation of food is usually done by the crew keeping in mind previously agreed tastes and needs.
Stops in port and mooring in marine protected areas vary according to the period and availability and
therefore they are not included in the price. Dinners and Alcohol are not included in the cost in order to give elasticity and the possibility 'to choose where and what to eat and drink according to the availability' of the place and the season.
Our advice is to create a common fund for drinks and
special meals among all the participants to the cruise.

12 - WATER, A PRECIOUS GOOD

Fresh water on board every yacht is not unlimited and is a precious asset, so it needs to be used sparingly, for example, do not leave the tap open when you brush your teeth or when rinsing dishes. Using special marine soaps, natural and ecological, you can wash yourself with salt water: having a shower at sunset on the sea is one of the most amazing and maritime moments of the day.

13 - SMOKERS ON BOARD

Smoking on board is allowed only outside the yacht. The crew will show you where it is possible do it safely and without disturbing other nonsmoking
guests. It is strictly forbidden to throw butts and
filters in the sea to ensure respect for the environment.
